Developed in 2010 to address the need for fast, low-data transit information on WAP-enabled devices, nextbuses.sg was launched as a lean web app for commuters. Built with PHP and JSON, the platform was specifically designed to be accessible for users on legacy operating systems like Symbian, Blackberry, and Windows Mobile.
In 2014, the platform expanded into the wearable space with a companion watchapp for the Pebble smartwatch. Initially built for the first-generation Pebble, the app was continuously maintained and updated to support the platform’s entire product line, including the Pebble Steel, Time, and 2. Its success led to it being featured as a top 5 transit app in the Pebble app store.
